7 Months Old ...

So today I started thinking about how old Bekham is ... and how he has been alive outside the womb LESS TIME than he was alive inside of me. WHAT? Seriously? I was pregnant longer than 7 months? That seems absolutely absurd to me! Maybe its the lack of sleep. Or maybe he just brings so much joy and so many memories that SURELY he's been here longer than 7 months. The thought seriously dumbfounded me. Apparently that's not hard to do. I feel at a loss blogging lately. I am torn between choosing a different means to communicate vs a new reason for blogging. I feel like this blog needs purpose rather than ramblings of whats going on in our life. So ... starting in July- I am going to blog every day. Cue laughter.

But seriously- I found a website that encourages 31 ways to pray for your child (one character quality per day of the month.) I want to blog my prayer for Bekham each day of the month and try to capture a picture of him each day. We shall see how this goes, but, its just for a month. I'll need new inspiration come August!

Any ideas let me know!

Road Trips!

The past month of Bekham's life can be summed up in 2 words: ROAD TRIPS. He has been in 9 states total (Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Georgia)- overnight in 4 states (Florida, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and again, Georgia!) Bekham would probably sum of the past month of his life in these two words: CAR SEAT. But let me tell you, this baby is a champ. He was an angel child! We left for Destin at the end of May. He did have a huge "cry it out" session when it hit about 8:00pm and he was ready for bed. He really hasn't had a major cry it out session in the car seat since! We arrived in Destin late on a Thursday night and had beach time all day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before having to head home on Monday.

Bekham is his mother's child, no doubt about it. He preferred the pool to the sandy beach! We made literally one trip to the beach a day and that was all he could handle. We wised up enough to bring the baby pool to the beach by the last day there. He could tolerate it a little longer with his splash pool at his disposal. He did enjoy walking down the beach and people watching with his mommy and daddy. The rest of the days were spent on the pool deck. We moved his jumpy outside and he LOVED it. He enjoyed watching Jackson play and splash around in the pool. TOTAL ENTERTAINMENT! It was great. I know whats on your mind: did he sleep any better? No. Lets move on!

We drove home Monday, hit some nasty traffic and ended up being in the car a little over 7 hours when it usually takes about 6 or less. Bekham was a champ, once again! Little did he know, that was only HALF the drive that would be heading his way in less than 5 days. We took off for PA that Friday morning around 9am and got into Bradford, PA around 1:00am. We did make a 2 hour pit stop to visit with some friends in Columbus, gave little boy a bath and he fell asleep without a peep for the final 5 hours of the drive! I was just so proud of him! If you only could see the progress we've made. He used to DETEST that car seat!

Pennsylvania was great. I have so many memories there from visiting my cousins as a kid. We would spend DAYS playing in the crick. I was able to take Bekham down to dip his feet in for all of 10 or so minutes, but, it was worth it for me to have those pictures! We drove out to the Kinzua Bridge where I have pictures of myself playing on the bridge. Pictures aren't great, but I got some of Bekham anyways! We also stopped by the Custer City Drive In (where mommy and daddy had a date awhile back!) Got some pictures there! SUCH GOOD frozen yogurt! Bek definitely got to see the sights of Bradford, but more importantly, the people! He met most of my extended family for the first time and I loved it! Oh wait! Ask me if Bekham slept well! Nope. Let's keep going! For the most part is rainy and cold while we were there. I had to actually go out and buy Bekham some winter gear for our visit! By the time we left, the weather was warming up, and sunny of course! We got to throw a baby shower for my cousin Megan who is due on Bekham's first birthday! Not sure what she's having yet, but boy or girl, we are super excited to add to the family! I can't wait for those 2 to meet at whatever point in time that may be! We headed home a week later and left around 8am. We stopped about 2 hours in when we reached Erie to visit with some friends of ours that used to be in our small group! Oh how we miss them, but it was so good to see friendly faces on the drive home!

This time our goal was to end in Clinton, TN to visit with Bekham's great grandmother for the first time. She loved seeing him! I was glad we were able to stop overnight, for her sake and ours! Mom and I needed the break from the car. We finally made it home Saturday and by Sunday, Bekham had a playroom! YES! I've been waiting for this for a couple weeks now and it finally happened. We had to rearrange the ENTIRE downstairs in order to pull it off, but I'm so pleased with the result!

Tuesday the little man had his 6 month well check up. He is still in the 95th percentile for height (2 3/4 inches) and 50th percentile for weight (17.2 lb). He's a long boy! And he is so much fun right now. He totally sits up unassisted. Sometimes he will face plant trying to reach for a toy, but we kind of let that happen in hopes it will teach him to crawl. He is very picky about when "Tummy time" is acceptable! So I figure, if its his idea, just let it happen! He can finally pick up smaller blocks, his pacifier, teething toys etc. He's developed great motor control in his hands and its just fun to watch. He belly laughs ALL the time. Loves playing patty cake REALLY REALLY FAST. He loves riding on my knees while I sing silly songs. He is SO ticklish! Its so easy to make him happy right now! He loves his bouncy/jumper. He loves his johnny jumper. He pretty much loves anything at this point! Except sleep. This is just a great stage.

I feel like this post is just a bunch of mumble jumble shoved into a post. I just don't want to forget this phase. Soon he will be crawling/pulling up/walking. Right now its fun that he can just sit and pick some toys while I just watch him, play along, or get stuff done around the house. When we go out to eat, he prefers to sit up on the table and be part of the crowd. The high chair is not his preference :) Although, we did go out to eat last night with my mother-in-law and he stayed in his high chair the entire time! Oh which reminds me! I think we are over the throwing up of solids! Bek has eaten jar after jar of baby food. So far only fruits and vegetables, but he keeps everything down and he loves it! Such a praise! I do wish for my sleep, and always will, but we've gotten into the habit of co-sleeping after his first stretch of sleep (which is anywhere from 1.5-2 hours). Its a bad habit, and I'm aware, but its the best way for us all to get a good nights sleep and function at full capacity the next day!
